Mindy's 12 Commandments for Christmas Baking

Thou shalt keep a running list of baking items thou shall be needing, so thou will not have to go to the grocery store for the eighth time in a week.

Thou shalt purchase a few more cute containers than thou thinks thou needs so as to have plenty available when inspiration occurs. The $1.00 aisle at many fine retailers is a fine place to pick up said items.

Thou shalt have a ready answer for the spouse that shakes his head at receipts that contain multiple $1.00 purchases.

Thou shalt ALWAYS purchase another pound of butter no matter that thou thinks thou has more in the fridge at home. Thou will otherwise kick thyself squarely in the lower back half region upon your return home when discovering thou does not have enough.

Thou shall "Ditto" for the dozen eggs.

Thou shalt remember that all the pretty Christmas candy that adds such a festive touch is still rather pricey (bah, humbug!) and thou shalt search for and clip coupons so as to maximize your purchases.

Thou shalt remember to BRING those coupons into the store.

Thou shalt have a stockpile of some sort of cookie dough or fudge or something quick in the freezer that thou could quickly assemble in case of a need that thou didn't anticipate.

Thou shalt partake of much cookie dough while telling thyself January is less than a month away and it can be worked off then.

Thou shalt also be a fun mom and share the cookie dough with your children and remind yourself that you ate it as a child and are still here.

Thou shalt forgive thy kitchen floor for the inevitable smattering of sprinkles and powdered sugar that will be found on it at any time during December. Floors need love and decoration too.

And most importantly, thou shalt be generous in your baking endeavors and share with any that seem to be in need of a little Christmas cheer!
