She will have a very lengthy mental list of things that need to get done.
She will lay 2 picture frames out on the bed with thoughts of cutting the pictures to size that will go in those frames, so she can then wrap them and store them away until Christmas Day.
She will realize that her upstairs scissors are in the basement, since she brought them down a few days ago to wrap some gifts.
She will make a note to retrieve scissors in a few minutes, since she will be running downstairs at least once in the next hour.
But while she is upstairs, she needs to email someone and put away some clothes. On her way down the hall, she notices the large suitcases (purchased on Black Friday) and puts them away too. She gathers up hangers and makes her way down to the laundry room to start a load of laundry.
Someone will need a drink of water.
Then some lunch.
That load of laundry needs to be dried.
By this time the Mom has walked up and down the basement stairs 7 times, with nary a thought to the scissors.
She will finish the lights and garland on the banister railing and frost a birthday cake.
She will prepare a snack for incoming children, mix a meatloaf for dinner, start a batch of icing for another cake and help with homework after picking up a child from art class.
She will put the cake in the fridge.....in the basement.
She will chide children for not brushing their teeth and getting ready for bed, will read a book, say prayers and tuck everyone in.
She will make plans to grab her book, say a prayer of thanks that even though not everything got done, the day ended pretty well and everyone was loved, fed and hugged.
She will walk into her room with plans to jump into flannel PJ's and climb into her bed, relishing the Christmas lights on the banister along the way.
She will see see those blasted picture frames, complete with uncut photos mocking her.
She will realize that tomorrow is another day, complete with fresh opportunities to start a project and for some reason, not bring it to completion.
Shew! Tiring!!!
